Easy Hairstyles for Work to Start Your Day Right

Easy Hairstyles for Work to Start Your Day Right

Don’t we, as women, always strive to have beautiful hair? But with daily life sometimes it becomes more of a chore than anything. If you’re a working mom or just the typical woman who’s always on the go, you may find yourself rushing out the door, forgetting to comb your hair, let alone style it.

If you want to wake up with gorgeous locks, then hair extensions may be the solution you have been looking for. Not only do they make any average hair style look more glamorous and add extra body and length, but they also help to hold styles in for longer, which is great for all my fine haired friends. Here are ten chic, easy hairstyles for work that you can do with or without hair extensions—whether at the bus stop, at Starbucks, at a stoplight, or even while walking to the office! Check out our list below compiled by Kiki's top stylists:

1) The Twist-And-Pin Messy Bun

The twist-and-pin messy bun is for the ultimate bad hair day. As the name implies, it is a very easy hairstyle for work, but the magic lies in your ability to make it as messy as possible. Tie your hair in a high ponytail. Simply part your ponytail into two sections then twist each section of hair.

Then simply wrap each twist around the hair tie in opposite directions and secure in place. You have to use strong, good-quality pins. Try not to overload your pins with hair to keep them perfectly in place. If you do, you'll notice a lot of hair falling out as the pins tend to reverse out of your hair. Just lightly weave it through your hair.

 2) The Knotted Ponytail

The knotted ponytail is a classy, easy hairstyle for women who are always on the go.

Versatile and basic, the ponytail is the go-to hairstyle among women who always sleep through the alarm. If you're one of them, you might have been wondering if there was something that can be done to make it look more chic. The knotted ponytail is among the most stylish, quick hairstyles for long hair to keep you from running late for work.

Set your hair back into a ponytail. This variation only requires one knot. It's up to you if you want to keep a part in your hair or comb all of your hair back. Hold the ponytail tightly in one hand. Then draw a thin section of hair around your tie. As you hold your ponytail securely with one hand, grab another section out from the ponytail using your other hand.

Wrap both sections around until your hair tie is covered and proceed to tie a knot using the two smaller sections.
Use a secure bobby pin to hold the know it in place.
Experiment with different sized sections in order to change up this look.

3) The Reversed French Twist Pony

The reversed French twist pony is another one of the easy hairstyles for work on our list.

Don't let this style deceive you. The reversed French twist ponytail is way simpler than it looks, and its just perfect for women who are looking for easy hairstyles for work. It resembles the typical ponytail when you look at it from the front, and exudes elegance in the form of a mini reverse French twist when viewed from the back. Many insist that only stylists can do this, but this can be well replicated at home or even when mobile.

Form a low side part, then sweep your hair across your forehead, then over your ear. Proceed with securing half of your hair in a low ponytail at the back of your neck, then on to securing it with a hair tie. Gently comb your remaining hair at their roots, then smooth the hair with a soft brush towards the ponytail. Gather the remaining hair, then twist it into a roll towards the hair tie, down towards the ponytail, securing the bottom into the ponytail with bobby pins. Keep a finishing spray handy and spritz your hair to keep the style in place.

4) The Half-Up

The half-up, half-down updo is an easy hairstyle for work.

Sported by red-carpet and street-style stars aplenty, the half-up do has gracefully stood the test of time. Not quite up, not fully down, this hairstyle lets you get your tresses out of your face, while still making you look well put together.

This style looks best when you start with curled or waved hair.
Don't be afraid to fill it full of dry shampoo or texture powder to create long-lasting volume. Simply comb the hair above your ears into a half-up ponytail, allowing the hair beneath your ears to hang freely. If you have a soft-bristle brush, use it to sweep your hair into the top pony to smooth it and even out the bulges on the sides, And you now have a easy hairstyle for work! It's that quick.

5) The Top Knot

The top knot is a timeless, easy hairstyle for work.

The top knot is a definite must-try. Sometimes referred to as the “let’s get things done” updo, this is a perfect style to wear when you’re going to meet demanding clients or when you already anticipate your day to be a bit rough. While this is mostly applicable for long hair, you can also try this if you have medium-length or curly hair. Just make sure to always bring lots of hairpins!

Start by popping your hair into ponytail. This is best recreated with second- or third-day hair; otherwise, use dry shampoo to give it a little texture. Next, backcomb your hair. Once done, smooth the base of the ponytail. Form your hair into a bun around the base of the ponytail then pin it securely in place.

6) The Ponytail with a Twist

The twisted ponytail is a gorgeous, easy hairstyle work.

This is another way to add some oomph to the seemingly mundane ponytail hairstyle. Literally add a twist to it and pull off a sassy yet chic hairstyle for work!

Do this by doing a ponytail using only the hair from the back of your head. Leave the fronts out to create the twist.

Twist each side together and bring it to the back of your head. Bring the two front sections you created together at the back (doing one at a time) and wrap around the hair tie and secure into place.  Go back over them, gently drawing the twists to make them a bit fuller. Feel free to experiment and make them bigger or looser, if you want.

7) The Modern Messy Bun

Consider this: a messy bun is to dirty hair, as champagne is to a girls' night out.  This hairstyle is more of a saving grace in the morning when you're tempted to rush out that door without washing your hair. We are all guilty of trying to push that hair washing date back an extra day.

This works even better if your hair is curly or has been curled previously.

Start by making a loose ponytail, as low or as high as you want it. Don't worry about using a comb or if the strands are perfectly slicked back, in fact leave some out at the front as this hairstyle is almost effortless. Divide the hair in your ponytail into a few large sections and tease. If you can remember on our previous blog, we talked about how teasing can give your hair the messy texture and volume.

Split your teased hair and wrap the hair in opposite directions, like you would when making a top knot. Instead of securing your hair with bobby pins tucked inside, do it about an inch from the bottom of your strands, allowing the ends to fray around your bun, this will add texture and create the best part of the style

So there you go-- easy hairstyles for work that aren't limited to cutting and getting you stuck with a boring ponytail. If by any miracle, you get to have some me-time, try practising all of them. That way, you can find out which ones work best for you.
